The tax holiday starts tonight at 12:01 a.m. and ends
Sunday, Aug. 4, at 11:59 p.m.
Tax breaks are available for a long list of school supplies
costing less than $20 per item and clothing that is $100 or less per item. Clothing
accessories, protective equipment, and sports equipment are not eligible.

Hurricane and emergency preparedness items that qualify for the sales tax
exemption include portable generators (costing $1,000 or less), gas-powered
chainsaws ($350 or less), chainsaw accessories and other items, such as
battery-powered radios, smoke detectors, and tarps ($60 or less).

To get the tax break, appliances must have an Energy Star
