This weekend is a ‘tax holiday’ in Virginia
If you’re thinking of stocking up on school supplies or new clothes, this weekend is a good time to get started. Aug. 6-8 is a “tax holiday” in Virginia, meaning you won’t pay sales taxes on certain items.
To qualify, school supplies must sell for $20 or less per item, and clothing must sell for $100 or less per item. Footwear is included under the tax exemption for clothing, but accessories and sporting equipment are not. There is a complete list of eligible items online on the Virginia Department of Taxation website.
