A townhouse fire in the 3300 block of Spring Lane in Bailey’s Crossroads on April 1 resulted in the death of three cats, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

When fire units from the Fairfax County, Arlington, and Alexandria fire departments arrived, just before 5:30 p.m., they saw smoke showing from the two-story end-unit townhouse. They found the fire had started in a basement kitchen and quickly extinguished it.

One occupant had smelled smoke, discovered the fire in the basement before smoke alarms sounded, self-evacuated, and called 911.

Fire investigators determined the fire was caused by an electrical event involving the electronic control area on a stove. Three occupants were displaced by the fire and declined assistance from the Red Cross. Damages were estimated at $93,750.

  1. Total lack in the protection of citizens in the county and nationwide. These govt leaders are useless in an emergencies or enforcing code compliance. Just look at the filth of our roadways and all Gross does is pander to her low income base. Sound like someone we know who is at the other end of the spectrum? Well its your lack of polices that have added to this pandemic. Cleanliness is next to Godliness and this county has no God.
