Three teens arrested for setting man on fire

Three teenagers are facing
attempted robbery and malicious wounding charges after setting a man on fire in
Annandale, the Fairfax County Police Department reported Jan. 23.
The incident occurred on
Sunday afternoon in the 4500 block of Commons Drive. A man who had been sleeping
awoke to find several juveniles setting him on fire in an attempt to steal his
backpack. When officers arrived, they found his clothing and backpack had been burned. The victim was treated for injuries to his upper body and was released
from the hospital.

A 15-year-old was arrested on
Jan. 22, and another 15-year-old was arrested on Jan. 23. A 14-year-old had been arrested on Jan. 21. Police do not believe the incident is gang related, and they do not think anyone else was involved.

  1. Setting a person on fire to steal a backpack? Who is raising this type of kid? I mean, seriously? Beating someone up is not enough, now you have to set them on fire? And the guy was sleeping. Wow. Just the most cowardly thing I have seen. And these are KIDS — 14 and 15. I'm so scared that my children have to live in this world.

    1. Truly horrible. I don't care from where you came or how young/old you are–doing this to anyone is inexcusable. Always.
