Thrift store moving into old Kmart building

The first tenant to announce its presence at the shopping center
replacing the Kmart in Annandale is a B-Thrifty store.
There are no details yet on when it could open. The store’s address is 4223 John Marr Drive.
It will be the third store in the B-Thrifty chain. The others
are in Woodbridge in Prince William County and Camp Springs, Md.Â
The stores offer clothing for women, men, and children;
shoes; accessories; household goods, furniture, and toys.Â

According to a manager at the Woodbridge store, B-Thrifty members get 30 percent off on Mondays and
Thursdays. There is no charge for membership.
Seniors get 30 percent off on Thursdays. On
Wednesdays, military members, police officers, and firefighters get 35 percent
off.Â
Two colors are on
sale every day for a week. For example, everything with a green or blue tag
might be 50 percent for a few days, then everything with a yellow or pink tag
will be half off.Â
The stores do not accept consignments or buy used items from
the public.
Once we had K Mart and now its been replaced with more thrift shops in a crappy looking new shopping center. Thank you Penny Gross for making Annandale the junk store center Fairfax
Oh boy a thrift store, the exact same mediocre retail that loves Annandale so much. What a let down.
Wow, wasteful space… I mean anything is better than a thrift store for such a central location in the heart of Annandale. All we can do is thank Penny for this decision, wegmans, anything else would of been better.
I agree with everyone we need a another big brand store that brings jobs new people to Annandale and more business for those small business next to Popeyes Shila bakery
They already have Goodwill and Treasure Trove consignment in the adjacent shopping centers. Are they going to add a dollar store and laundromat next?
Solid guesses. It'll be a dollar store, laundromat, cell phone retailer, titlemax car title loans, maybe even a 7-11! We can only hope for such quality retail!
This must be part of the hallowed VISION FOR ANNANDALE the board of supervisors is always touting.
Explain to me again how Chick Fil A improving the landscaping, adding sidewalks, and overall beautifying the dilapidated dump lot on 236 was so counter to the VISION… but refacing the Kmart as this crappy gray monolith and filling it with third rate junk retailers – sounds amazing!
I was hoping this was an April Fools joke, but it's past April. With the landlord taking a different approach with The Block and Kimen/Pelicana, I was really hoping they would open up more cool shops in that same vain.
Don't forget that we need to add some check cashing and pawn stores to complete the vision.
Once again, PENNY GROSS (and all her voters) fails to establish a relationship with local developers to bring in quality tenants to invigorate one of the best locations in all of metro Washington, D.C. She has absolutely no clue how to springboard our community forward. Annandale's voters only have themselves to blame for consistently electing this dinosaur of a politician. Congratulations, Annandale!
Couldn't agree more!
Worst news in the past 3 years i've been living in this area.
It actually looks like someone decided to expand crime and poverty outside of Baily's crossroads now.
Annandale is becoming the armpit of Fairfax County.
Another long string of comments about how someone else should open some store that the commenters think is better. My suggestion: open a business yourself in this strip so you can improve the community. I don't typically shop in these stores, but people – normal, average-income folks – shop in discount stores all across this country. That store will employ workers, will fill a need, and will make someone money. It could be you! I am sure that the strip owner would sit down with you and be excited about your plan. Take a chance – just like the owners of the Block. Unless you are just waiting for Penny Gross – your endless bogeyman – to somehow start a business and put it in there. Oh, wait, she doesn't own the building nor is in the private sector. I guess you will have to personally encourage a high-end business to set up shop. Go ahead, I'll wait.
I agree.
Great post, made me laugh, "Penny Gross the bogeyman". Don't know why everyone points the finger at Penny like she's the Queen who dictates everything. If you don't like it, then do something about it. Blaming someone else isn't going to do anything.
Don't understand all the bashing of a person I've never heard of. If everyone is complaining why don't they come up with the $$$$$$$ to buy it & develop – as I've hears all my life, STOP COMPLAINING OR DO SOMETHING BETTER YOURSELF.
This is a colossally disappointing waste of an opportunity. A thrift store, really? So, so, disappointing.
Excuse me. Some people who shop in thrift and resale shops are perfectly nice people. I am a fan. I see it as the ultimate recycling and a source for the unusual. A friend was hosting a huge "glamping wedding" dinner. The bride insisted that nothing could match. My friend could not find enough salad and dessert forks in in the Minneapolis area where she lives. I was able to find a good number by visiting every thrift store in our area in several in Hampton Roads. Try to do that at Macy's.
I would be interested in knowing who they buy from, and who are the participants (sellers) in the international market side.
MR
We need a cannibis shop as soon as legal.
Any ideas on what to replace the old Magills pizza in annandale with? besides another headache like the trashy Diamond lounge. Annandale really has gone downhill in the last ten years. Really sorry to see it, at one time it was the best in the area.
Ex. A box. Store target. Walmart.
