Tour of Oak Hill, the oldest house in Annandale, will be virtual this year
The annual tour of historic Oak Hill won’t be held this year, due to the pandemic. Instead, Fairfax County is presenting a virtual tour, beginning at noon on Nov. 1.
Oak Hill is the oldest house in Annandale. It was constructed around 1790 on the Ravensworth Tract by Richard Fitzhugh, a descendant of one of the first land-grant holders in Northern Virginia. The late Georgian-style dwelling was renovated in the Colonial Revival style during the late 1930s by renowned restoration architect Walter Macomber.

Oak Hill is also known for its collection of 200-year-old boxwoods.
The privately owned property has been preserved under a historic and conservation easement that calls on the owners to open their doors to the public periodically.
The virtual tour, a 16-minute video, features the Oak Hill homeowners, former Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Sharon Bulova, and Supervisor James Walkinshaw (Braddock). The video will be accessible from the Oak Hill website.
