Townhouses proposed for Seven Corners

The address of this medical building is 6060 Arlington Blvd., but it’s not visible from the road.

The owner of a medical building at 6060 Arlington Blvd. in Seven Corners is proposing to tear it down and build 40 townhouses on the 4.6-acre lot.

Mason Supervisor Penny Gross is hosting a community meeting on the project April 3, 7 p.m., at the Mason Government Center.

The property owner, listed as Medical Building Inc., is proposing an amendment to the county’s comprehensive plan to change the allowed uses on that lot from office, with an intensity of .20 FAR (floor area ratio), to residential, with a density of up to 12 dwelling units per acre.

A rezoning application – requesting the zoning designation for the property to be changed from commercial (C-3) to residential (PDH-12) – will be considered at the same time.

The project is in Mason District between the Federal Hill townhouse community, Target, and the Arlington County line.

The Fairfax County Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on the proposal June 15. A hearing before the Board of Supervisors will be held July 25.

If the applications are approved by the BoS, approximately 43 townhomes could be built on the site, says Katrina Newtson of the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning.

One of the building’s main tenants, the Falls Church Medical Center, closed last August.

  1. Well, there is limited housing inventory, the above place is a dump, and odd's are the new home owners will move in, raise a family, pay taxes, and send their kids to school and with any luck they will raise the socio-economic profile of the area… and not be members of MS-13. On second though, perhaps the Fairfax County School board will redistrict all 4.6 acres to a rich school versus helping JEB (is it socially acceptable to still say JEB?) or Falls Church High.

  2. This is on the edge of the plan area and abut townhomes. Dont know what else could reasonable be placed there.
