Trail-riding group gets grant to restore Wakefield Park trails

The Fairfax County Park Authority Board has approved a $16,200 Mastenbrook grant to Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts (MORE) to help fund a trail restoration project at Wakefield Park in Annandale. 

MORE plans to restore and rehabilitate numerous sections of trail in the northern end of the park that have deteriorated over time. 

Mastenbrook grants are from park bond funds and cover about half the cost of a project; the grant recipient pays the rest. The $32,400 trails project is scheduled to be completed by fall 2021. 

MORE schedules trail rides at Wakefield Park, including night rides on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
