Weekend crimes: assault on an officer and armed robbery

Among the crimes listed in the Fairfax County Police Department’s weekend crime recap is an arrest for assault on a law enforcement officer on Dec. 2 in Annandale.

Officers responded to a noise complaint at about 1:13 a.m. and found a man yelling outside who appeared to be intoxicated on the 4400 block of Briarwood Court. The man refused to go inside his home, so officers attempted to him for being drunk in public. While being taken into custody, he assaulted the officer and reached for the officer’s gun.

Antoine Martin, 39, of Annandale, was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, attempting to disarm the officer, resisting arrest, and being drunk in public.

On Dec. 2, a man had just delivered a pizza in the 6000 block of Bellview Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads at around 10:36 p.m. when he was approached by two men who displayed a weapon and demanded property. The victim retreated into a building, and the suspects ran away. They did not take anything. The victim was not injured.

Another pizza delivery man was not so lucky. He was delivering a pizza in the 7100 block of Larrlyn Drive in North Springfield at about 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 3 when he was approached by someone who identified himself as the customer. While speaking with him, a second man approached, displayed a weapon, and demanded cash. The suspects then fled with cash and the pizza bag. The victim was not injured.
