Police report weekend crimes in Annandale/Mason area

A man was arrested for grand larceny at the Target at 5115 Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads on Dec. 15, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

The store’s loss prevention employee called the police after he recognized a man who had been involved with multiple thefts in the past looking at electronics.

When officers arrived, they arrested Demetrius Bradley, 28, of Annandale, based on the previous thefts. They found him to be in possession of a crowbar and a screwdriver that had been used in those thefts.

Bradley was charged with three counts of grand larceny, three counts of possession of a “burglarious tool,” and three counts of larceny with intent to sell stolen items.

In other crime news, there was an attempted robbery at the Rite Aid at 6053 Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads on Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. The store clerk reported a man bought an item and then showed the clerk a handgun while the cash drawer was open. The clerk closed the drawer and stepped away, so the man left the store.

The suspect was described as black, 25 to 35 years old, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 150 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and gray pants.

A traffic stop at about 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Heritage Drive/McWhorter Place in Annandale led to a narcotics arrest.

Police pulled over a car for illegal tinted windows. While talking to the driver, the officer smelled marijuana inside the car. Police found three small bags of marijuana, a digital scale, and case. The driver, Rashaud Jones, 29, of Washington, D.C., was arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute.

There was an armed robbery on the 4800 block of Manitoba Drive, Lincolnia, at 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. The victim was walking on the sidewalk when approached by a man and a woman. The man pulled out a handgun, forced it against the victim’s neck,and  demanded  money. The victim handed over money from a wallet, and the suspects ran toward the apartments nearby.

The woman was described as Hispanic, about 18 years of age, and the man was described as black and also about 18.
