Weekly crime report: attempt to disarm an officer, auto theft

The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following crimes in Mason District.

Police were called to the 3500 block of S. Jefferson St. in Bailey’s Crossroads shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 when a man refused to leave a property at the request of a security guard. 

When officers attempted to arrest Jerry Swagerty, 56, of no fixed address, he resisted and tried to remove an officer’s gun. Swagerty was charged with an attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer and public drunkenness.

Officers coordinated a traffic stop on a stolen 2020 Coleman trailer on Interstate 395 at Edsall Road at 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 18. Two occupants, James Buraglia, 68, of Texas, and Landon Forman, 23, of Oklahoma, were charged with grand larceny auto theft.
