Weekly crime report: shootings, sexual assault
The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following recent crimes in the Annandale/Mason District:
On Aug. 25, at about 9:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a man screaming for help in a parking lot in the 4900 block of Lincoln Ave. in Lincolnia.
The victim had been shot in the upper body. He was transported to a hospital for injuries not considered life threatening. Police believe this was not a random incident.
There was a burglary and sexual assault incident in the 4500 block of Commons Drive, Annandale, at 10 p.m. on Aug. 24.
A man entered a home through an unsecured door, assaulted a woman, and ran away. He was described as being in his 20s with a tan complexion, possibly Hispanic, skinny, and 5 feet, 6 inches tall. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black pants with a white stripe on the side.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in a parking lot in the 3500 block of S. Jefferson St. in Bailey’s Crossroads at 2:15 a.m. on Aug. 20. Police discovered several cartridge cases on the ground.
A short time later, a man was dropped off at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body. The victim had been shot by a man who approached him in the parking lot. The shooter fled in an unknown car. This does not appear to be a random act of violence.
