Watch Night, City of Falls Church – A four block area along Broad Street, closed to traffic, 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Nine bands, indoor and outdoor venues, karaoke, inflatables, puppet shows, popcorn, hot chocolate, games and activities for kids, noisemakers and hats for the countdown. Free shuttle bus every 30 minutes from the East Falls Church Metro Station.
First Night, City of Alexandria – More than 100 live performances featuring all types of music and dance plus shows for children at dozens of locations along King Street in Old Town. $20, kids 12 and under and active military personnel are free. Some of the children’s programs are in the afternoon, but most of the performances start at 7 p.m. and later. Fun Hunt at the Torpedo Factory, 105 N. Union St., Alexandria, 2-5:30 p.m. Fireworks on the Potomac River at midnight.
