Where to celebrate on New Year’s Eve

Looking for a fun way to celebrate New Year’s Eve without having to go to D.C. or National Harbor? Here are some options for ringing in the new year a bit closer to home:

JV’s Restaurant – New Year’s Eve Party with the Shartel and Hume Band, 9 p.m. 6666 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church.

State Theatre – Retro Dance Party with 80s tribute band, the Legwarmers. Doors open at 8 p.m., show starts 9:30. $50. 220 N. Washington St., Falls Church.

Clarendon Ballroom – New Year’s Eve Gala with Liquid A and DJ Bobby Hash. Doors open at 8 p.m. $85, includes four drink tickets, party favors, midnight hoagie station. 3185 Wilson Blvd., Arlington.

Nick’s – New Year’s Eve Party with live music by Boot Rooster, karaoke in the back room starts at 9 p.m. Dinner package for $50, with advance reservation, includes four courses, party favors, Champagne toast at midnight. Walk-ins $20. 642 S. Pickett St., Alexandria.

Jammin Java – New Year’s Eve Party with Melodime, the Steve Everett band, and Paul Prau trio. Advance tickets start at $25. Dinner menu available. Doors open at 8 p.m., show starts at 9. 227 Maple Ave. East, Vienna.

Mad Fox Brewing Company – New Year’s Eve Celebration with Tom Principato, doors open at 8 p.m., show starts at 9:30. $80, includes buffet, party favors, midnight toast; drinks extra. 444 W. Broad St., Falls Church.

Diamond Lounge – Put a Latin flavor in your New Year’s Eve with DJs, a buffet, prizes, and noisemakers. 8 p.m.-3 a.m.  7203 Little River Turnpike, Annandale.

Sea Pearl – A Grown and Sexy New Year’s Eve with passed hors d’oeuvres, live music with the Grand Shell Game at 10 p.m., Champagne toast at midnight.  $82. 8191 Strawberry Lane, Merrifield.

Watch Night, City of Falls Church – A four block area along Broad Street, closed to traffic, 7 p.m.-1 a.m.  Nine bands, indoor and outdoor venues, karaoke, inflatables, puppet shows, popcorn, hot chocolate, games and activities for kids, noisemakers and hats for the countdown. Free shuttle bus every 30 minutes from the East Falls Church Metro Station. 

First Night, City of Alexandria – More than 100 live performances featuring all types of music and dance plus shows for children at dozens of locations along King Street in Old Town. $20, kids 12 and under and active military personnel are free. Some of the children’s programs are in the afternoon, but most of the performances start at 7 p.m. and later. Fun Hunt at the Torpedo Factory, 105 N. Union St., Alexandria, 2-5:30 p.m. Fireworks on the Potomac River at midnight. 

First Night, Vienna – Live music, food trucks, kids’ activities. Free. 7 p.m.-midnight. Church Street, Vienna.
