Windows Plus relocates to Annandale

Windows Plus has recently relocated to Annandale and is eager to meet the community.

As a result, the company invites customers and local to an open house on Oct. 25 and has signed on as a sponsor of the Taste of Annandale, a community festival on Oct. 14.

Windows Plus, which sells and installs doors, siding, and roofs, as well as windows, moved from Chantilly to Annandale after purchasing Allied The Window Center several months ago.

Windows Plus founders Reg Wayland and Tom Camarca met while playing on an adult flag football team and established a construction company together before they launched Windows Plus in 2000, says Senior Vice President Kimberly Knight Wayland, who is married to Reg.

Allied was started by Obren Dean in 1957. After Dean died in 2003, a couple of his five daughters and their husbands continued to lead the company, which primarily sold aluminum windows.

Last February, Charles Worthington, Dean’s son-in-law, who had managed the company for about 40 years, contacted Windows Plus to see if they were interested in buying it. Wayland and Camarca not only agreed, but purchased the Allied Building at 4321 Markham Street.

Merging the companies was a great fit, says Kimberly, as Windows Plus mostly provides windows to condo owners, while Allied had focused on single-family homes.

“Allied’s approach to business was very much aligned with our own practices,” adds Reg. “Both of our companies have had a solid reputation in the community for many years. The more we thought about it, the more it seemed like the ideal match.”

Windows Plus will carry on Allied’s traditional approach that has attracted so many loyal customers over the years, Kimberly says. Worthington was a “kind-hearted individual, a good family man, and many of his customers who were concerned about him reached out to us.”

The Waylands and Camarca are thrilled about the opportunity to move their company to Annandale, as it’s their home base. Reg was on the Annandale High School football team in the 1970s when it was the best team in the state (and ranked number one in the nation in 1978).

Windows Plus works with several manufacturers, including Pella, to provide the best products for each customer at the best price. The staff walks customers through what can be a bewildering home-improvement process.

That attention to detail and customer service has paid off: Windows Plus is one of a handful of window companies recommended in Best Pick Reports, an independent rating system that has consistently given the company a top rating.

The Windows Plus Open House is Oct. 25, 5-8 p.m., at the company’s new headquarters, at 4321 Markham St., Annandale. To RSVP, contact Kimberly Knight Wayland, [email protected], 703-256-0600, by Oct. 18.
