Woman arrested for carjacking

Police arrested a woman for carjacking in Bailey’s Crossroads on Feb. 12.

The victim reported that a woman approached his vehicle shortly before 2 a.m. in the 5900 block of Seminary Road and asked for a ride. When the victim refused, the suspect opened the door and pulled the victim out of the vehicle.

The suspect then fled in the victim’s vehicle. Arlington County police located the vehicle in their jurisdiction an hour later and took the suspect into custody. Fairfax County detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau responded and identified Peggy Li’Nae Sykes, 28, of Arlington, as the suspect.

Sykes was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with carjacking. She was held on no bond.

The FCPD’s Fairfax 1 helicopter, Real Time Crime Center, and additional patrol units assisted with the search.

  1. Nothing good happens after 12 o’clock so the saying goes. Unless you’re looking for trouble, especially there.

    Think about it. That area of Seminary Rd is dangerous at 12 noon. Just yards from the homeless shelter/drug shooting gallery.

    What were you doing driving there at 2 AM dude? Live nearby? Then you know better. Not from the area? A quick glance tells you oops, get out of here.

    And, stopping for a pedestrian anywhere at 2AM? What normal pedestrian is out for a stroll at 2AM? Was she screaming for help and you were worried about her? Call 911.

    Yep, there’s more to this story than just some poor victim.
