Woman followed, robbed after leaving ATM

A 31-year-old woman driving home from an ATM in Arlington noticed she was being followed by an SUV. When she got out of her car, at the 3600 block of Barcroft View Terrace, a man exited the SUV, threatened her with a handgun, and demanded money, the Fairfax County Police Department reports. She handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was not injured.
The incident happened at 2:51 a.m. on April 29. The suspect was described as black, in his 30s, tall, and skinny. He was wearing a black shirt and blue pants. There was no description of the SUV.

The CVS at 7205 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, was also robbed on April 29. A man approached an employee at 3:02 a.m. and implied that he had a weapon. The employee ran and called police. The suspect grabbed an unknown number of customer prescriptions that had already been filled and left the store. The suspect was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.

  1. Obviously no one deserves to get robbed, but why would that woman get out of her vehicle if she knew she was being followed?

Drive to the closest well lit location and call the police, or drive to the Mason Dist police station it's right in that area.

    1. Yes, this is a bit strange, but hindsight is always 20/20. Maybe she wasn't absolutely sure she was being followed.

I just don't use ATMs at all. And certainly not at 2 in the morning.

    1. I'm not sure I understand: if that's actually funny, why? If you're being sarcastic, I still ask: why? Is there ever a funny/sad time to rob or be robbed?

  2. Something does not smell right on this store. You get money out at 2:51 in the morning you know you are being followed and instead of going to the firehouse right next door you park your car get out and then are robbed. Something doesn't sound right to me in this story. I feel there is more to it. It smells fishy to me. First question is why would you need to go to an ATM at 2:51am in the morning and why if knowing you are being followed would you get out of your car.
