Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Solvers, 866-411-TIPS/8477, text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637, or call the police, 703-691-2131.
The bum should be returned to sender.
Now stop that!
People from different cultures have different customs. Please note this occurred in Culmore, even if the police and/or our humble reporter do not want to report this information.
Perhaps this young Latino male is a recent immigrant (documented or undocumented) who has recently arrived in the U.S.A. from a place where woman in particular, and people in general, are not treated with the respect people are treated in the U.S.A., and has not yet been fully assimilated and accustomed to the American way of life.
As the Argentinan-born and raised Pope has recently proclaimed to the U.S.A.'s leaders in Congress, we must welcome all immigrants with open arms as "pilgrims."
If our recent immigrants, perhaps just possibly the young Latino male in this instance, do not follow the law of the U.S.A., it is not their fault, but our fault for failing to welcome these individuals to our country and teaching them about the American way of life.
There are too many ignorant commenters on this blog who love to post stupid "return to sender," "bulldoze Culmore" comments and who talk about Mason District being dominated by "white vans."
Instead, we all need to take the opportunity God (and our nation's leaders who refuse to secure the border) has given us to welcome, help, and minister to those who are less-fortunate among us (many of whom live in Culmore) rather than demonizing them for immigrating to the U.S.A. to seek a better life for themselves and their children (just like we, or our family members who came before us, did).
I hope you're joking. Yes, some people need to learn tolerance and the "return to sender" cliche has worn paper-thin, but some things are almost universally inappropriate and/or illegal. If someone grabs me (or worse), I'm sure as h___ not going to stop and ask, "Is this acceptable where you come from? Should I get to know you better before I proceed to break your nose? Do I need to fight for my life, or just sit you down for a genteel chat?"
Get real!
