Woman struck by vehicle dies

A woman struck by an SUV April 12 in Seven Corners has died, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

Amolia Lozano, 74, was exiting the passenger side of a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee just after 3 p.m. in the 2900 block of Peyton Randolph Drive when the Jeep drifted backwards causing her to fall on the road.

The driver, not realizing the car was still in
reverse, accelerated, causing it to hit Lozano, as well as an unoccupied
vehicle. Lozano was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead several
hours later.

The driver remained at the scene and is
cooperating with detectives. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors. At
this point, no charges are expected.
