Woodburn Road to get a pedestrian signal and crosswalk

The Virginia Department of Transportation is going to add pedestrian signals and a crosswalk on Woodburn Road at Wellness Boulevard in Annandale.

The pedestrian improvements will provide a safer connection between Inova Fairfax Hospital and a relatively new asphalt path next to Pine Ridge Park between Bannerwood Drive and Woodburn Road.

VDOT has completed an analysis of this intersection and “will be moving forward with the design, though implementation might take several months due to other projects that are ahead in the pipeline,” Nicole Wynands of the Fairfax County Department of Transportation wrote to Camelot resident Brenda Greene.

Greene had submitted an online comment to FCDOT requesting a marked crosswalk across Woodburn because many drivers coming to and from the hospital are not paying attention to pedestrians. The new path makes it easier to walk from Camelot and surrounding neighborhoods to the hospital and beyond to the Mosaic District.
