Woodburn’s new principal grew up in the area
Richmond |
Katharine Richman, the new principal of Woodburn Elementary School, is no stranger to the area.
Richman grew up in Annandale, and went to Camelot Elementary School, Luther Jackson Middle School, and Falls Church High School.
“The Falls Church Pyramid has always been close to my heart,” Richman says. “I’m excited to connect with the Woodburn staff and build relationships with the staff and community and continue the great work that’s happening here.”
Before being appointed principal of Woodburn, Richman spent two years as assistant principal of Parklawn Elementary School. Her teaching experience includes a stint at Belvedere Elementary.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at Boston University and a master’s at George Washington University and spent two years in South Africa as an education resource volunteer with the Peace Corps.
Woodburn’s former principal, Bridget Chapin, retired. The school is hosting a meet-and-greet with Richman for Woodburn families July 26, 6-7 p.m.
