Work resumes on renovation of long-vacant Annandale office building

The old sign remains at least four years after the tenants moved out.

Construction on Hanna Plaza, the office building renovation
project at 7409 Little River Turnpike in Annandale, has finally resumed after another
two-year delay.

The project was initiated in 2014, but work didn’t start until for two years as several challenges were worked out. Construction started in 2016 but
then stalled over a dispute about parking.

The project called for 98 parking spaces, while the county
requires 100, said construction manager Steve Choi. After extended
negotiations, the owner agreed to revise the design to squeeze in two more
parking spaces.
The project should be completed in summer 2019, Choi said. The
building is expected to house professional offices, such as doctors or lawyers,
and businesses, such as a real estate or financial services company. No
tenants have signed on yet.

  1. Just what we need, more asphalt and empty office space to add to the 20 million square feet of empty office space we have now. What visionaries!

  2. AT LEAST THE PROJECT IS UNDER WAY AGAIN. I am glad to hear about that.

Some commenters on here never, ever fail to find the down side of a situation. I wonder how you people make it out the front door every morning. (Or are you all miserable hermits glued to you electronic devices with nothing else to do but complain and troll?) If things here in Mason bother you so very, very much, either run for office or just MOVE. Your attitudes are not enhancing anything.

    1. My point above was rather than use this for office space, why not turn it into an alehouse like the one Adam couldn't stop talking about. This is a great industrial feeling building and perhaps this could have been a nice amenity but for the lack of vision. Again, empty office space everywhere… not trying to be negative but am wondering how 2 parking spaces could have held any project up for this amount of time.
