Work underway on First Watch restaurant

The future home of First Watch.

Demolition is underway on the former Ruby Tuesday space in Bailey’s Crossroads to prepare for the new First Watch restaurant. Ruby Tuesday, at 5850 Leesburg Pike in the Crossroads Center, closed in December 2019.

First Watch is a daytime café that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. It’s open daily, 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The name is a nautical reference to the first shift of the day on a ship.

The menu features fresh ingredients. Here are a few examples: pumpkin pancakes, avocado toast, breakfast tacos, power wrap (egg whites, turkey, spinach, cremini mushrooms, mozzarella in a sun-dried tomato and basil tortilla), BLT benedict (poached eggs bacon, avocado, arugula, and avocado on ciabatta); and kale tonic juice (kale, apple, cucumber, lemon).

This Bailey’s Crossroads First Watch will also offer breakfast cocktails, such as bloody Marys and mimosas.

There are more than 300 First Watch restaurants in the United States. The closest one is on Main Street in Fairfax.

Alliance Physical Therapy

Next door to the future First Watch, at 5866 Leesburg Pike, there’s a relatively new Alliance Physical Therapy center. It’s in a long-vacant space that formerly housed Next Day Blinds.

Alliance Physical Therapy specializes in sports and auto injuries, hand therapy, and workers’ compensation. It offers treatments for chronic pain, post-surgical rehab, joint replacements, muscle strains, and much more. Starting next week, the center will have a hydro-tank for aquatherapy.

Patients don’t need a doctor’s referral for the first 30 days. Alliance Physical Therapy is a chain with locations in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Tidewater, and D.C.

  1. First Watch sounds more high end than what we usually get in the area. Perhaps it will attract younger people and millennials. The area really needs an influx of young people, couples, and families if it is going to survive.

  2. Thats great – wonderful restaurant! The one in Fairfax – pre-Covid – and maybe now still is always busy.

  3. I am SOOOOO excited to see First Watch coming to a place closer to home for me! We truly have needed a good breakfast place with Gluten Free options around here! One that serves regular food that folks are accustomed to eating for breakfast as well as healthy options!

  4. Agree with both of the above fans. I’ve been to several First Watch restaurants and always enjoy the food! Glad to see it come closer to home!
