  1. I hope police can capture the gunman soon. Hopefully he’ll spend the rest of his life in prison. This act of gun violence must be stopped at all costs!

        1. A C-series with tinted windows and MD plates, weaving in and out of traffic 30 mph above the speed limit. Have you been out of the house lately? Yes, a gang driving a Mercedes.

    1. Comments like this are ridiculous. Take one isolated event and use it to confirm your existing world view. Over the last 10 years crime is slightly down in Fairfax county. Take your FUD elsewhere.

        1. Crime is up nationwide over the past 3-4 years. Perhaps a thing called covid and the resulting rampant income inequality has something to do with that. But since crime has been trending down for decades, it’s still lower than it was 10 years ago.

          1. Covid and income inequality doesn’t cause crime. Crime happens when people break the law. People are disincentivized to break the law due to penalties if caught. Therefore reducing penalties should (and does) increase the crime rate. “Broken windows” policing works. That’s how NYC was cleaned up in the 90s. We have abandoned broken windows policing and defunded police and disenfranchised police from doing their jobs. It’s all the obvious things that have led to the increase in crime across the country.

      1. Gunfire and assaults are not isolated events anymore.

Cars were broken into in broad daylight this weekend. Crime is down? Ask a patrol officer if they think crime is down.

  2. These weird incidents are on the rise. For example in the past year a man was killed at an atm; 2 guys went on a spree stealing lottery machines; another person shooting at cars – 2nd incident. It’s Hard to ignore the facts. And we love and support the police. But they can’t even catch illlegal dumping in broad daylight by known individuals- how are they going to catch this rando shooting at cars? They can barely write a parking ticket for wrong way parking in neighborhoods; won’t ticket and tow abandoned vehicles in residential neighborhoods- they literally drive past it every day. So maybe we need more officers? Nope – BoS has to fund their salary raise first.

  3. Wasn’t there another shooting incident in roughly the same area a few months ago? I could have sworn I heard someone was shot at on the 236/495 ramp. If so, could it have been the same person? Maybe initiation of some sort?
