Annandale Area Moms group plans outings for children

Playtime for the kids of the Annandale Moms group.

If you’re a stay-at-home mom with young children and toddlers who wants to connect with other moms for play dates and outings, the Annandale Area Moms group is for you.

The group is an outgrowth of the Moms Club of Annandale. That group disbanded a couple of years ago, as the members’ children aged out.

There are about 16 people in the new group, with children age 5 and under, says Kimberly Costa, one of the moderators.

They meet for play dates at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church in Annandale, at local parks, and at events at George Mason Library and other places. They are planning a meetup at the Taste of Annandale, which is scheduling a full day of children’s programming at the ACCA Child Development Center.

The group scans the Annandale Blog calendar for ideas. Meetups are generally arranged on an informal basis, Costa says, with one person suggesting an outing and asking other moms to join them. Sometimes the moms get together for a night out or brunch without the kids.

“The group would benefit from being a little bigger. We want people to know we are here,” Costa says.
