Nature center to close temporarily
The Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale will be closed Feb. 14-June 10, but outdoor programming will continue, the Fairfax County Park Authority reports. Hundreds of children make holiday crafts at ON-Annandale event
Kids decorate ceramic bowls with decoupage paper and glitter. More than 300 children and families made gifts for their families and friends Dec. 4 at the Fairmont Gardens apartments hosted by the Opportunity Neighborhoods-Annandale program. The event was organized by FACETS, a nonprofit that serves families and individuals affected by poverty, hunger, and homelessness.
Community center coming to Annandale
Plans are moving forward for the establishment of a community resource center in the Heritage Shopping Center in Annandale. Construction is expected to start in early 2022, said Supervisor James Walkinshaw (Braddock). Fairfax County signed a lease with the Webb Cos. for a 1,200-square-foot long-vacant space formerly occupied by CrossFit Annandale.
