Annandale church for sale

A prime church property in Annandale is on the market for $13.5 million.

The congregation at Iglesia la Biblia, a bilingual Charismatic Pentecostal church at 5001 Backlick Road, has outgrown the space, so they want to relocate, says Josh Velez, the son of pastor Roger Velez and a real estate agent with Samson Properties.

The 3.5-acre property consists of three parcels: a 5,400-square-foot worship facility; a single-family pastoral house; and a three-story building – the Instituto Biblico Gamaliel with 17 classrooms, a dining hall, and a commercial kitchen.

Velez says two developers, a childcare center, and other churches, including Korean churches, looking to expand have expressed interest in the property. The property is zoned R-2.

Iglesia la Biblia has been in that space for about 21 or 22 years, Velez says.

The church offers worship services, Sunday school, and Bible study. The congregation has about 600 members, many of whom live in Fairfax, Burke, and Chantilly, so the church wants to move to one of those areas, Velez says.

“Annandale has been a great location,” he says. “We’re going to miss this location.”
