Annandale is getting a new restaurant

Oiso will replace Gom Ba Woo on Columbia Pike.

A new restaurant, called Oiso Korean Street Food, is expected to have a soft opening in March in the retail strip anchored by Giant in central Annandale, says owner and chef William Kim.

Oiso will be located at 7133-C Columbia Pike between Wellbeing More and a vacant storefront being renovated for a future Bonchon restaurant. It will replace the Gom Ba Woo restaurant, which is closing at the end of January. Demolition will start in February.

Kim says the menu will include kimbap (rolls with rice, vegetables, and seaweed); donkatsu (fried pork cutlet with cabbage salad and rice); ttekbokki (rice cakes and fish cakes in a spicy sauce; K-tacos; bibimbap; o-dang (fish cakes); K-noodles; bulgogi; and dumplings.

He is applying for an ABC license to serve Korean beer, rice wine, and soju.

There will be two large kiosks for ordering food and plenty of indoor seating.

Kim is the former owner and chef at the popular Oegadgib Korean restaurant on Little River Turnpike in Annandale, which he founded in 2000.

He learned cooking from his mother and grandmother in South Korea. Oegadgib means “grandma’s house” in Korean. Oiso means “welcome.”

  1. Cool. I hope that entire Giant shopping center undergoes a radical refurbishing and update. It’s looks like something from 1967.
