VDOT posts 2026 repaving map

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia District has posted a 2026 repaving map.
According to the map, the following roads in the Annandale/Mason District area are targeted for repaving:
- Little River Turnpike between Old Columbia Pike and Landmark Plaza.
- Braddock Road between the beltway and Backlick Road.
- Braddock Road between Hillcrest Place and Columbia Pike.
- Hillcrest Place between Columbia Pike and Sano Street.
- Many other streets in Lincolnia, including Brookside Drive, Park Road, Yellowstone Drive, Fairfax Parkway, Arcadia Road, Oak Ridge Drive, River Downs Road, and N. Chambliss Street.
- Gallows Road between the beltway and Gatehouse Road.
- Woodburn Road between Gallows Road and Prosperity Road.
- Tobin Road between Woodburn Road and Eakin Community Park.
- Forest Drive in the Skyline area.

Repaving will start this summer and conclude in November. Exact work dates will be announced approximately 10 days in advance.
Residents might have to relocate cars, basketball hoops, and garbage cans during the work.
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation conducts road restriping and crosswalk improvements in conjunction with the VDOT repaving program. FCDOT has not announced its plans yet.
They need to improve the quality of the resurfacing. Our road was done last year and is full of potholes and failures. They don’t do anything to improve the base so of course the new asphalt will fail. Fix it on the cheap and we have to keep repaving over and over again. Where are the civil engineers?
Doug A: I agree. The repaving of Columbia Road between Bailey’s Crossroads and Annandale was also a huge failure. It was pretty obvious to me from the bginning that it was a job done cheaply. Repaving over an existing base can be effective if the surface paving is satisfactory – clearly in all these cases it was not. I sure hope the county is using a different contarctor.
I would urge VDOT to mill and reissue Columbia Pike between Braddock Road and Rt 7
