Annandale man indicted for murder at hotel
A grand jury has indicted Hiep Van Vo, 43, of Annandale, for second-degree murder in the November 2023 homicide of Charles Ashe Jr., 44, Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced May 20.
Prosecutors allege that Vo shot Ashe at the Falls Church Marriott hotel at 3111 Fairview Park Drive. The police had received a report of gunshots at the hotel at about 1:30 a.m. and found Ashe, of Maryland, near the elevators with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased.
According to detectives, Ashe had entered a hotel room where Vo was with four others. Police found narcotics in the room. After the shooting, Vo fled and was arrested the next day outside a Giant in Gaithersburg, Md.
Vo was also indicted on two additional weapons charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.
The commonwealth’s attorney reminds the public that a criminal indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
