Annandale man wins $1 million in lottery

Man Nguyen of Annandale won $1 million in the Virginia Lottery’s Mega Millions drawing.

“My wife’s birthday is coming up, and I’m thinking of buying her a new car,” Nguyen told lottery officials.

Nguyen happened to notice the lottery app on his device and decided to buy a few tickets online, the Virginia Lottery reports.

One of the tickets he bought matched the first five numbers in the Feb. 28 drawing to win the $1 million prize.

The winning numbers in that drawing were 14-16-40-52-59. Nguyen missed the Mega Ball number, which was 13. If he had matched that final number, he would have won a jackpot estimated at $145 million. He used Easy Pick, which allowed the computer to select his numbers at random.

The Virginia Lottery gives players the ability to purchase Mega Millions, Powerball, Cash4Life, Cash 5 with EZ Match, Pick 4, and Pick 3 tickets online, along with dozens of instant games available only online.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights at 11 p.m. The odds of matching the first five numbers in Mega Millions are 1 in 12,607,306. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

  1. Im very happy for him 👏🏻🎉 I’m hoping he got all the necessary financial and legal advice and documents in place before he outed himself….assuming he had the choice. I don’t know VA’s law about remaining anonymous.
