Annandale real estate market shows some improvement

The real estate market in Annandale is doing somewhat better in June 2010, compared with June 2009.

The average price of a home sold in zip code 22003 was $371,396 during June 2010, compared to $363,758 in June 2009, according to statistics provided by Vivianne Couts of Coldwell Banker. The median price of a home sold last month was $372,500 versus $349,500 a year ago.

Homes are selling quicker this year, too. The average home spent 68 days on the market in June 2009, compared to 34 days in June 2010.

But while 82 homes were sold in June 2009, only 62 were sold last month. Six homes sold in June 2010 went for prices ranging from $600,000 to $699,000; nothing sold for more than that. Of the 294 homes for sale now in Annandale, eight have an asking price in the $1 million to $2.499 million range. Another 24 are priced between $700,000 and $1 million.
