Activities around the Ossian Hall Park area in Annandale were disrupted during the afternoon of Oct. 12, as police officers from the West Springfield Police Station looked for a suspect in a stabbing incident.
An adult male was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Fairfax County Police Department tweeted. His condition was since upgraded to stable and remains hospitalized.
According to the police department, after a dispute, a woman approached the victim on the soccer field at Ossian Hall Park, at 7900 Heritage Drive, assaulted him with a tree branch, stabbed him with a knife in the upper body, took property, and ran away.
This was not a random act; the suspect and victim knew one another.
The suspect was described as Hispanic with a blue-striped top and purple or pink hair. Police are also looking for a Hispanic man with a black puffy jacket who might also be involved.
A children’s soccer game at Ossian Hall Park ended early, as law enforcement – including the K9 unit and the Fairfax One helicopter – searched the area.
Annandale Terrace Elementary School paused walkers who had not yet left the building during afternoon dismissal, and parents in the kiss-and-ride line were asked to sign out their children from the main office, Principal Lisa Pilson reported in an email to the community. The school also paused outdoor after-school activities.
“At no time was anyone on school property in any danger. After we received clearance from the Police Department, we returned to normal school operations,” Pilson said.
Ahhhh, the Devil is alive and well doing his thing in "South" Annandale. Seriously, the area of Annandale that is bordered by the beltway on the west, 236 on the north, braddock on the south and Columbia Road on the East is a third world country.
True. If was a developed and civilized country like the U.S. someone with an AR15 would have shot the children in the soccer game.
