7-Eleven takes over the Annandale Speedway

The former Speedway gas station and convenience store at the corner of Little River Turnpike and John Marr Drive in Annandale is now operated by 7-Eleven.

Seven & i Holdings Co. Ltd., the Japan-based parent company of 7-Eleven, acquired Speedway from Marathon Petroleum Corp. in 2021 for $2 billion.

Customers must be 21 to enter the beer cave.

The newly branded 7-Eleven at 7100 Little River Turnpike has better coffee and lower prices than Speedway, says manager Omid Safararazi. Other than new coffee and Slurpee machines, not much has changed. He says the biggest sellers are chips, beer, and other drinks.

The shop is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  1. I already feel old—please no one tell me how long it’s been since that corner was a Hess station. I’m sure it’s longer than I want to acknowledge.

  2. If only we could have 7-11s like in Japan with awesome food and lots of variety! But this transition should be fairly smooth with little change for those happy with Speedway.

  3. Who thinks it is a good idea that beer is one of the biggest sellers at a gas station?
    Not me.

    1. Exactly! , sends 2 messages. Don’t drink and drive, but we’ve got your supplies. It’s all about the money . 💰 😔 Profit is put over importance in today’s society. But yes you hit the nail on the head .

    1. I think that referred to the entire Speedway business, not just the Annandale Speedway station, lol.

  4. It doesn’t matter that you can buy beer at a gas station, you can buy it just about anywhere and usually drive to that location, you are either responsible or you’re not!
