ArtsFairfax hosts art displays at the Lincolnia Senior Center

ArtsFairfax Presents, an initiative by Fairfax County’s nonprofit arts agency to bring the arts to places where people spend their daily lives, is hosting a series of art displays at the Lincolnia Senior Center.
The current exhibit, “Images of America,” is a mixed media collection of 16 works that examine American identity and iconography. The display will be up through the end of September in a hallway at the senior center, located at 4710 N. Chambliss St. in Lincolnia.
The next show, “Exploring the Great Outdoors,” scheduled from October to January, will celebrate the green spaces, waterways, and the inhabitants of Fairfax County and beyond. Another exhibit, planned to open in June 2027, will feature artworks by participants in the Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative.

These exhibits build on previous art displays at the Lincolnia Senior Center earlier this year that featured artists from the Mason District Arts Council and the Lake Barcroft Art League.

ArtsFairfax cites a report by researchers at University College London that found engagement with the arts – both the making of art and enjoying theater, dance, music, or visual art – slows the rate of biological aging as effectively as physical activity.
Another ArtsFairfax Presents exhibit, located in the office of Braddock Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer through the end of August, features works by Ariane D’Souza. In October, a six-month exhibit will open at the Springfield Town Center.
ArtsFairfax Presents responds to a finding from a survey by the organization that found a majority of visual artists want an affordable and appropriate space to share their work.
“By identifying new spaces and equipping them for exhibition, we are offering a platform for visual artists across the county to widen their reach,” said ArtsFairfax President Stuart Holt. “Our hope is to eventually grow ArtsFairfax Presents to embrace more art forms for the presentation of theater, music, dance, and other artistic practices.”
By reimagining existing spaces as part of “ArtsFairfax Presents,” the nonprofit creates lower-cost opportunities to host arts programming while absorbing the administrative burden to artists for the presentation of their work.
