Renaissance of Annandale will host a ceremony Sept. 14 for resident Ron McDole in honor of him being named to the Nebraska Hall of Fame.

McDole, nicknamed “the Dancing Bear,” has had a notable 18-year career in professional football. He played for the Cardinals, Oilers, Bills, and Redskins.

McDole played in two American Football League championships and one Super Bowl, He still holds the record for being the University of Nebraska player with the longest NFL career.

He was a three-year letter winner as a tackle for the UN Huskers from 1958 to1960. He was team captain in his final year.

“Ron was very honored and emotional to be told he was being inducted to the University of Nebraska Football Hall of fame,” said Tammy McDole, Ron’s daughter. “It was an honor he did not think he would ever receive.”

Since McDole won’t be able to attend the induction ceremony in person, he will be able to celebrate at Renaissance with his family and friends.

Renaissance is a memory-care facility at 7112 Braddock Road in Annandale.
