Balian Springs brings a touch of luxury to Mason District
There’s a brand-new luxury spa in an industrial area of Mason District.
Balian Springs opens to the public tomorrow, Oct. 4, in a former office building at 6432 General Green Way, Alexandria. It’s not just a spa though; it’s a social wellness club, says Director of Operations Michael Yohman.
The facility has a huge pool on the first floor surrounded by sauna rooms and hydrotherapy pools ranging from 40 to 104 degrees.
On the second floor, there’s a day spa, meditation lounge, immersive lounge, resting lounge, fitness center, aromatherapy room, yoga studio, media room with pumped-in oxygen, 14 massage rooms, body scrub rooms, and a nail spa.
There are two restaurants – Niko Niko for sushi and Kuta Kitchen for vegan and other dining options – plus the Garden Café, Tipsy Fish Bar by the pool, and Hideout Bar on the third floor.
There’s a heated infinity pool on the roof along with hydrotherapy pools, a fire pit, and a grill.
For relaxing and rejuvenating, there’s a gold sauna, steam box, charcoal sauna, Himalayan salt sauna. loess clay sauna, infrared therapy room, and chromatherapy room. Each one has specific health benefits.
If things get too hot, patrons can cool off in the ice igloo.
An annual membership is $8,000 and is restricted to 60 men and 60 women. Daily memberships are $90 on weekends and $75 on weekdays.
Services, such as massages, body scrubs, facials, and acupuncture, are extra. A private room with hydrotherapy and massage and scrub tables is available for rent.
The owner and developer, Steve Chon, operates Spa Forest facilities in New York and Dallas.
Phase 2 of Balian Springs, in an unimproved section of the building, is expected to be a medical spa.
This is very cool novelty addition for Mason, woohoo! Got to make a visit !
Today I called to schedule a tour of the facility. I was told there are NO FREE tours and in order to see the facility you must purchase an “entry fee” which is $75 M-Th and $90 F-Su. That’s a pretty arrogant approach marketing a new business. My interest has waned.
I suppose even though you pay the entrance fee and just look around you could at least eat there. Though I suspect food is not included in the entrance fee. Just like the theme parks.
Holy guacamole! That building was a former location of the Information Tech. Department for the Securities and Exchange Commission. This looks like a MUCH better use of the property, IMHO.
Here is what the building used to look like:

Wow!!! What a spa. This is my second time visiting. I can’t get enough of the luxury 3 floors of rejuvenating, good food and healthy atmosphere. I get there early and stay just about all day. Their food and drinks are healthy and yummy. God willing, I will be treating myself to this spa once or twice a month. The price is really worth it! I like to come during the weekday because it’s less crowded.
