Bonchon opens in Annandale

A new sign will be installed soon.

Bonchon, the chain specializing in crunchy Korean fried chicken, is now open for business in Annandale.

The fast-casual restaurant, at 7133-B Columbia Pike, is in the former 92 Chicken spot. It’s smaller than the old Bonchon on Columbia Pike, which was destroyed by a fire in March 2023.

Manager Daniel Nam hopes to have a grand-opening celebration on Feb. 21 or Feb. 28.

Bonchon specializes in crunchy fried chicken.

The chicken is hand-battered and double-fried and can be ordered as wings, drumsticks, strips, and boneless. Diners have a choice of sauces: soy garlic, Korean BBQ, Yangnyeom (sweet and spicy), and spicy hot.

The menu also includes chicken sandwiches, and Korean entrees, such as bibimbap, japchae, tteokbokki, bulgogi, buldak, udon noodle soup, and fried rice.

Among the sides: kimchi, pickled radish, coleslaw, Korean street corn, bulgogi fries, bao buns, potstickers, popcorn shrimp, shrimp dumplings, octopus dumplings, and Korean tacos. For dessert, there are Korean donuts.

  1. Korean donuts? What’s next, Mexican hot dogs? Lake Camel cheese 🫕? African Jungle Sushi?

    1. There are actually Mexican hot dogs, called Tijuana street dogs, and they are quite delicious. No country owns a patent on donuts…
