Boxing shop to open in Annandale

Z’s Boxing Gym in Annandale is opening a shop selling high-end boxing equipment a couple of doors down.

Z’s Boxing Gear will open at 4113 John Marr Drive within the next few weeks, says Monica Zimmerman, the wife of Z’s Boxing Gym owner Eric Zimmerman.

The new shop will replace Word of Life Books, a Korean Christian bookstore, which has moved nearby to 4201 John Marr Drive, Suite 215.

Z’s Boxing Gear will sell gloves, hand wraps, mouth guards, headgear, and Boxraw apparel. It will also offer nutrition and weight-cutting services for boxers, Monica says.

It will be the only store selling brands currently only available online, she says, such as USA Boxing, Athlete Blueprint, Hit N Move, Rival, Thorne, and Sting.

Monica has served in the Air Force for 15 years and met Eric while both were deployed in Afghanistan.

Eric is planning to remodel Z’s Boxing Gym and install a mural featuring Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao and scenes from D.C.
