Boy Scout Troop 150 will be gathering food donations for a local food bank Sunday, Nov. 15, 11:3 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Annandale United Methodist Church parking lot.
“Scouts usually go door to door in November collecting food for the needy, but the current public health crisis has led to some changes. One thing that has not changed is the need for people of goodwill to support local charities like the ACCA Food Pantry,” states a message from Troop 150.
The Scouts ask residents to bring non-perishable donations in non-glass containers to the church at 6935 Columbia Pike, Annandale. Wear a mask and stay in your car. The boys will unload your items.
“Help show our young people how we take care of one another, how to put compassion into action, and how rewarding serving others can be,” the troop states.
Some Boy Scouts might also solicit donations from the end of their driveway. During next year’s Scouting for Food campaign, the troop hopes the scouts will be able to resume their door-to-door campaign.
