Buenos Grill brings Mexican cuisine to central Annandale

Buenos Grill, the long-awaited eatery on Columbia Pike and
Evergreen Lane is up and running – if a little late. The superstorm Sandy that
knocked out the power in most of central Annandale delayed the grand opening from
Oct. 29 to Oct. 31.
The restaurant offers burritos ($6.95 for the foot long),
tacos ($2.50 for one), and salads ($6.85) with your choice of grilled steak,
carnitas (slow-cooked, shredded pork), grilled chicken, barbacoa (slow-cooked
beef), and “vegetarian” (mango guacamole and pinto beans with pork).
The manager, Simon Yi, taking orders at the counter.
There’s imported and domestic beer, and the manager Simon Yi
says he hopes to be able to offer mixed drinks soon.
The menu is still evolving, but for now a selection of tapas
is available after 5 p.m., including duck confit with avocado on tortilla ($7),
grilled prawns ($8), endives with pear, cheese, and pecan ($8), seared scallops
($10), and crab fritters ($8).
Buenos Grill, 7023 Columbia Pike, is open every day, 10
a.m.-10 p.m.

  1. I'm excited. Any comments from folks who've been there? I wish them good luck! We need a new good restaurant in Annandale. And not a new Goodwill store. Someone help Annandale!

  2. It was pretty good…I've only had a pork burrito so far, but will definitely go again. I would choose this over a Chipotle, the food seemed healthier. The roasted corn was a standout, and they have a good selection of drinks at this point. We got drinks and two entrees for about twenty dollars. Good add to that area, nice clean place and I hope it sticks around!

  3. I went there for the first time on Saturday. It was definitely not what I thought. I thought it was going to be a full service restaurant. Instead it is exactly the same as chipotle. I would say the only real difference between the two is the name. This isn't a bad thing. I always thought a chipotle would be good in Annandale. I thought it was really good. The ingredients tasted really fresh. The sit down area is nice. They have a weird Heart shaped sculpture that was cool. I recommend it and will add it to my rotation.

  4. I gave it a try this weekend. Tapas are not on the menu yet, even after 5 pm. Otherwise it's in the style of a Chipotle. Burrito or tacos, choice of meats, choice of toppings. The ingredients are all significantly better than Chipotle, however, especially the guacamole. It'll be a nice go-to tex mex joint, and unquestionably a step up from a dead gas station.

  5. I wish I could give a review, but when my wife and I, inspired by this article, went by at 9 pm last Thursday to try it out, we found the door locked and were told "We just closed," even though they claim that they're open from 10 am to 10 pm. They didn't offer to let us slip in and eat, nor did they offer us discount coupons or something else to assuage our disappointment and encourage us to come back. We're not sure that we will.

  6. Who eats at 9 pm anyways? …Do not take it out on the restaurant for not catering to your outrageous needs….anyways the place is great, fresh food and an awesome atmosphere, you're missing out.

  7. My husband and I eat there a couple of times a week. Their food is very fresh. My favorite are the prawn dishes. The prices are very reasonable and the decor is attractive. I'm thrilled that they have come to Annandale because we certainly need more cuisine choices in the area! My only request (and that goes for most businesses/restaurants) PLEASE lower the music!!!
