Caboose Brewery coming to Mosaic District

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved special zoning exception Nov. 1 to allow the Caboose Brewing Co. to develop a new brewery, tasting room, and beer garden in an old warehouse on Eskridge Road next to the Mosaic District in Merrifield. The facility will have seating for 160.
The project also includes a landscaped, urban green area with benches, public art, bike racks, space for a future bike share station, a new eight-foot wide sidewalk along Eskridge Road, and a new crosswalk to connect with Strawberry Lane.
Caboose makes a variety of craft beers and ales, which it sells at its first facility, the Caboose Brewhouse in Vienna.
The Board of Supervisors is proposing new zoning rules to make it easier to open craft breweries and distilleries on industrial and commercial properties. Manufacturers will be able to make up to 15,000 barrels of beer, 36,000 gallons of spirits, or 5,000 gallons of wine, cider, or mead per year without the need to go through the rezoning process.
Caboose is good stuff. Beer garden?!?! I may never leave.
I think Caboose is okay. Much better beer available at Total Wine, minus the beer garden. But this is a great development nonetheless.
Yeah you know, you're right. I think I'm just more pumped to have a brewery nearby.

Of course none of this good stuff is coming to the Mason Dump. There would be no room for the white vans.
Glory Days is coming to Mason District, but the bitter angry commenters must continue to be negative, because it is who they are.
Susie, Its still not here yet, and if the anti-development people get amped up we will end up with either a Penny Gross social service center, another homeless shelter or a satellite DMV mini.
So we will keep hammering with the negativity until someone with good judgement prevails and helps the middle income/property owners that live here and pay property taxes to get some services and retail that they can enjoy and patronize. Merrifield is getting all the goodies while Mason, which I hear pretty regularly coined the "Dump" continues to gets most of the spoils. Unfortunately now I get the term, it just took a while.
I'm hopeful that Glory Days will come and thrive, but to be honest my confidence is worn for all I have seen during the many years that I have resided here are good businesses and residents flee.
Once you leave things will improve a lot, no doubt!
