Catch a Spotlight by Starlight concert before the summer ends

Well over a hundred people relaxed on the grass at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale on July 19 for a taste of Peruvian music and dance.
Centro Cultural Peru presented performances, several featuring children, representing the various regions of Peru. One of the organization’s main objectives is to educate the children of Peruvian immigrants about the culture and language of their homeland.
Next Saturday, July 26, is Indonesian Cultural Night at Ossian Hall Park. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at 7900 Heritage Drive.
Santi Budaya, co-led by the music director of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C., will present musicians and dancers in lavish costumes performing classical dances from Java, Bali, and Sumatra.
Upcoming cultural performances at Ossian Hall Park feature Senegal on Aug. 2, Vietnam on Aug. 9, and China on Aug. 16.

The shows at Ossian Hall Park are part of Mason District’s Spotlight by Starlight series, with concerts twice a week at Mason District Park, 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, July 25, the NOVA Symphony Orchestra will present classical and popular music on the stage at the Mason District Park amphitheater. The group is the orchestra-in-residence at Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale campus.
Project Locrea will perform at Mason District Park on Sunday, July 27. “Locrea” is a combination of the words “love” and “creativity.” The group offers a mashup of world folk traditions, jazz, classical, and contemporary music.
Concerts at Mason District Park continue through Aug. 17.
There are also children’s shows at Mason District Park and Wakefield Park on Saturdays at 10 a.m.
