Chancellor of Annandale-based university resigns after kinky photos surface online

David Lee, the chancellor of the Annandale-based University of Northern Virginia, resigned Aug. 19, in the wake of a sex scandal, the Washington Times reported Aug. 22.

The Smoking Gun website, which posted kinky photos of Lee, stated that the 64-year-old chancellor “is so into domination and sadomasochism that he has transformed his basement into a suburban dungeon complete with bondage racks.” The website says Lee and his girlfriend posted an online ad seeking a female sex slave “to be part of our poly family.”

A letter posted on the UNV website from Lee says he has resigned because “discussions of my personal life have become a distraction for students and friends of UNVA at a time when we need to focus on much more significant issues.” Habib Khan has been appointed acting chancellor.

In July, UNV was raided by federal immigration officials, who confiscated computers and records. It’s not clear what they were looking for. A large majority of UNV’s students are from India and have student visas. After that incident, Lee assured students that UNV would remain open and classes would continue.

The 10-year-old self-accredited university, based at 7601 Little River Turnpike, offers doctorate degrees in education, business administration, and information technology, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in those and other areas.
