In my hometown, the closed church of Christ, Scientist was bought and converted into a wonderful Montessori school for children. In my research of Christian Science, I found it a denomination of Christianity that emphasizes the word and works of Jesus Christ and seeking truth. While prayer is useful and valued, I learned a better conviction from writings of the church founder, Mary Baker Eddy, who wrote about the dangers of hypocritical prayers and recommended letting people make their own decisions about medicine. I wrote in the 7th edition of 21st Century Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: A modern version of Mary Baker Eddy’s Science and Health, “When Christ, Truth, changes a human mortal conviction of sin or sickness into a better conviction, then thought melts into spiritual understanding and sin, disease, and fear disappear. This church teaching brought me out of the depths of an incurable illness along with depression and despair. I had the best doctors who were sad that they coikd not help. After my healing with the kind ministry of the Jesus-followers in Christian Science, the doc who treated me in the hospital rejoiced, saying his grandma waa a Christian Science healer. 50 years lster I have worked for two fortune 500 companies, had my own business and the joy of two children.
