Concerts in the parks underway

The Fairfax County Park Authority’s Spotlight by Starlight concert series is in full swing, with shows three evenings a week at Mason District Park and weekly at Ossian Hall Park. Children’s shows are scheduled for Saturday mornings.

On June 15, the Hai Hua Community Center hosted Taiwanese Cultural Heritage Night with music and dance at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale. The well-attended event featured a zither performance, a yo-yo act, and several traditional Chinese dances – with performers ranging in age from 7 to 70+.

Cultural performance will be held at Ossian Hall Park, at 7900 Heritage Drive, Annandale, every Saturday at 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 17.  

Next Saturday, Ossian Hall Park will feature music and dance from Indonesia, and on June 29, it will be Irish Cultural Heritage Night.

There are shows at the Mason District Park amphitheater every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 18.

The next show, on Wednesday, June 19, features Izis La Enfermera De La Salsa.

Larnell Starkey & the Spiritual Seven will perform African-American gospel songs on Friday, June 21, and Kalanidhi will perform Indian dances on Sunday, June 23.

Bring the kids to Mason District Park on Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m. for children’s songs by Groovy Nate. The children’s show on June 29 features comedy and magic by the Great Zucchini.

Children’s shows are also scheduled on Saturdays at 10 a.m. at Wakefield Park in front of the Audrey Moore Rec Center. Mr. Lilo will perform songs for children on June 22.
