County grants available for neighborhood improvement projects

Park benches, trails, pavilions, tot lots, community-building
social events: These are the types of projects funded by Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program (NEPP) grants.
Community associations, HOAs, and recreation clubs
should definitely consider applying for these Fairfax County grants aimed enhancing
the quality of life in neighborhoods.
Proposals are due July 9.

A total of $100,000 is available for
fiscal year 2014. 
The maximum grant amount is $5,000, and grantees must
contribute extensive volunteer hours and/or donated goods and services.

According to the most recent annual report on the NEPP
program, for 2011, there were five funded projects in Mason that year—which is more than any
other district. Those projects included:

Potential applicants are encouraged to participate in one of
two upcoming NEPP conferences: June 5 at
the Pennino Building, 12011 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax; or June 10 at
the South County Center, 8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria. Both sessions are 6:30-7:30
