Crime report: carjacking, shooting, robbery

Updated 2:30 p.m. The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following crimes in the Annandale/Mason District area during the past week: 

There was a carjacking in the 5600 block of Seminary Road in Bailey’s Crossroads at about 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 12. The victim was walking in a parking garage when he was assaulted by a man with a gun. 

The man took the victim’s 2020 Toyota Corolla and other property, and drove away. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and remains hospitalized.

There was a shooting (previously reported in the Annandale Blog) in the 5800 block of Seminary Road in Bailey’s Crossroads at 2:20 p.m. on Nov. 8. Two groups of men were arguing in the parking lot and began to shoot at each other. They got into vehicles and continued shooting as they drove away. A bullet went through the window of a nearby apartment. A woman sitting in a car was shot and suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

The CVS at 7205 Little River Turnpike in Annandale was robbed at 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. A man walked into the store, threatened the cashier with a knife, stole cash, and walked away. There were no injuries. 

In other crime news, two 16-year-old boys from Annandale are facing charges following the Nov. 10 shooting at the Motel 6 at 6868 Springfield Blvd. in Springfield. 

Officers initially responded at 9:40 p.m. for a juvenile who was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. Several other juveniles were determined to be in the motel room at the time of the shooting. Following an investigation, detectives believe one of the boys was handling a firearm when he accidentally discharged a single round, causing fatal injuries to the victim.

  1. I suggest a dedicated section in the blog for crimes that happens on Little river turnpike and Baily's crossroads.

    They occur so frequently that it's just not interesting anymore.
    "yawn, another murder, yawn, another robbery… ohhh…yawn"

    no one cares.

    1. This is what happens when you have an abundance of concentrated section 8 housing. The surrounding neighborhoods like Lake Barcroft should be screaming at our government officials who clearly have turned a blind eye to the frequency of these gang related occurrences.

    2. It is chronic NIMBYism and implicit racism like this that continues to divide and detriment Northern Virginia. You'll disagree but I thought you needed to hear it.
