Crime report: officers assaulted

The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following recent crimes in the Annandale/Mason District area.

Officers were called to the Cue Club Café at 7014 Columbia Pike in Annandale shortly before 2 a.m. on June 2 for a report of a disorderly, intoxicated person. When officers called a taxi for him, he assaulted them.

Matthew Griel, 30, of Springfield, was arrested and charged with being drunk in public, obstruction of justice, and two counts of assaulting law enforcement.

Also, on June 2, officers attempted to arrest Shayena Johnson, 40, of Falls Church on two outstanding warrants for assault on law enforcement, she resisted and assaulted the officers. She was charged again with assault on law enforcement and obstruction of justice at about 8 p.m. in the 5700 block of Seminary Road, Bailey’s Crossroads.

A destruction of property incident was reported at about 4 p.m. on June 2. An employee of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 8922 Little River Turnpike, just west of Annandale, said someone damaged the building.

The H-Mart at 7855 Heritage Drive in Annandale was burglarized. An employee reported that someone entered the store and took property at about 2:40 a.m. on June 2.
