Crime report: police offer more details on firearm incident

The Fairfax County Police Department provided more details on the weapons violation on Little River Turnpike and Lake Boulevard in Annandale on March 14.
Officers made a traffic stop at about 1:15 p.m. on a 2005 Toyota Matrix, and found a firearm inside the car. The three occupants ran away. Officers found two of the men, a 20-year-old from Manassas and a 20-year-old from Maryland.
The man from Manassas was charged with illegally possessing a firearm, possessing a firearm on school property, fleeing from law enforcement, and driving without a license. The man from Maryland was charged with false identification to law enforcement, fleeing from law enforcement, illegally possessing a firearm, and being in possession of a firearm on school property. The third man has been identified, and warrants were obtained for his arrest.

In other crime news, police recovered a stolen auto shortly after 11 a.m. on March 11 after receiving a call about a suspicious man sitting inside a parked vehicle in the 3000 block of Castle Road in Seven Corners. A 26-year-old man with no fixed address was taken into custody and charged with grand larceny.
An individual was assaulted at about 2 a.m. on March 14 while waiting for a rideshare vehicle in the 6200 block of Little River Turnpike in Lincolnia. An unknown vehicle pulled up, and a man got out and assaulted the victim with a metal pipe, then drove away.
The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening. This does not appear to be a random act.
There was a robbery shortly after 4 p.m. on March 16 in the 4300 block of John Marr Drive in Annandale. A female approached the victim trying to sell jewelry. During their conversation, the female grabbed the victim’s arm and took property, then left in a vehicle. No injuries were reported.
The Tobacco Hut and Vape store at 4810 Beauregard St. in Lincolnia was robbed at about 6:45 p.m. on March 17. Several men entered the business and took property with force. No injuries were reported.
The Express Food Market at 4713 Backlick Road in Annandale was burglarized at about 2:30 p.m. on March 15. Someone forced entry into the business and took property.

As equity increases, so does crime. Criminals associate any obstacle as a feature of an unjust system that deserves no respect. D.C. Police chief Contee says children are carjacking for “clout” on social media. Imagine a culture that venerates victimizing total strangers in their cars. No amount of “equity” can fix that.
