Culmore shooting victim in critical condition

An individual was shot today in a parking lot near 3337 Glen Carlyn Drive in the Culmore area, the Fairfax County Police Department tweeted at 1:45 p.m. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries considered life-threatening.

The suspect is described as a 20-year-old Hispanic male wearing a blue mask, black hoodie, and black pants.

Bailey’s Elementary School was placed on lockdown due to police activity in the area, Principal Satonya Dews announced in an email. Outside activities were canceled and all exterior doors were locked.

“At no time was anyone on school property in any danger,” Dews said. “After we received clearance from the police department, we returned to normal school operations.”

Glasgow Middle School, Justice High School, and Bailey’s Upper were also placed on lockdown.
